Patrick Dempsey is a middle school science teacher in the Webster Groves School District located in the St. Louis Suburban area. Recognizing the value of effective technology in the classroom Patrick earned his masters in educational technology in 2010 and a masters in educational leadership in 2014. His accolades include Google Certified Innovator in 2013, Lifechanger of the Year in 2014, and Allen Distinguished Educator in 2016. Patrick has had a variety of experiences with BYOD, robotics, mobile learning, flip teaching, 1:1 laptops, makerspace in the classroom, Standards Based Grading, and project based learning. With experience in hand Patrick has worked to better the profession by facilitating professional development in districts and conferences across the state as well as serve on a team to start Connected Learning, which is 501c3 that works to do professional development differently. Currently he is working to improve student mastery in his science classroom by incorporating project based learning into global problems of waste, energy, and water in a way that allows student work to have a broader audience.
